Exterior Lighting
Exterior lighting is a major automotive application field that covers static and dynamic forward lighting as well as static and dynamic signaling, as well as new applications like ground projection, interactive social displays. Signaling applications also cover new body and logo lighting applications that are especially interesting for battery-electric vehicles.
Interior, Cockpit, and HMI
The interior of the vehicle becomes the “third living space” – our lighting and sensing products help enabling this transition. The following interior, cockpit, and HMI block diagram shows several main interior applications: smart surface and HMI for interaction with the driver and passengers, ambient lighting, and in-cabin sensing for enhanced safety, e.g. to support autonomous driving functions.
Exterior Sensing & ADAS
Today’s and tomorrow's vehicles contain a significant number of exterior sensing functionality for safety-related functionality and to increase the comfort for the driver. Lasers are at the core of LIDAR sensors, which provide advanced driver assistance and automated driving functions with accurate 3D data of the surrounding. Various infrared emitters and detectors, as well as ambient light sensors enable Rain, Light, and Tunnel sensing to automatically switch headlights on and off and adjust the air conditioning to the amount of sunlight. For easy entry into the vehicle and opening of the trunk capacitive proximity sensors detect touch and movement for functions like kick sensing.
Drivetrain, Chassis, Body
Due to their high accuracy, our shunt-based current and temperature sensing products are a perfect fit for traction & 48V battery management in today’s vehicles. In addition, our broad portfolio of position sensors up to ASIL-D enables accurate position and rotation sensing, and act as functionally safe sensors for x-by-wire functions, like break-by-wire, or steer-by-wire.
